Day 13 Game 13: 30 games in 30 days using Grids

CLICK HERE TO PLAY GAME 13

This is what Grids did for us today. What can Grids do for you?

In Game 13 you have to slide the rows in order to match the big grid to the small grid.

One of the biggest open research problems at Gamelogic is to find a better way to deal with Triangular grids (and other spliced grids).

The coordinate system that we use is simple enough to get a grid on screen, but it does not reflect the symmetries in the grid, and as a result, finding lines and other shapes is not so easy as is the case with hex grids. (We are working on this though, and will be posting our results pretty soon!)

This game does show one of the things that make triangular grids interesting – like square grids, you can slide rows, and there are three directions. Triangular grids can also be wrapped – and unlike square grids, they wrap around the same grid twice (at least, when the shape is a hexagon).

I don’t know if this is broken or if I just don’t get the controls. I’m clicking, dragging, pressing keys.. But nothing seems to do anything?

Moving the mouse over the grid does hihglight certain rows, but that’s all the interaction I’m getting

Hi… Thanks for letting us know. (The default control scheme is very bad – the first thing that will have to change if we ever update this game). If the X, Y, and Z keys are not working, it is possibly a browser or OS issue. What browser and OS are you using?
